The Mando guitar is a short scale version of a twelve string guitar and is essentially the same as capoing a regular twelve string on the twelvth fret. This guitar produced a unique sound which can be clearly heard on The Beatles version of "Words of Love" as performed by George Harrison

The Beatles made Vox amps famous and the Rolling Stones made the Phantom model guitar famous. Nobody has made the Mandoguitar famous yet, but it is one of producer Daniel Lanois' favorite effects. He was shown playing one on the documentary accompanying Emmylou Harris' Wrecking Ballalbum.
