1977 RD CUSTOM Natural, Moog Circuit, 2HB, Maple Neck Exc Cond.
A strong model with Maple body and Neck: Scale: 645 mm Maple Fretboard with Dots inlay Nut width: 43,2 mm Pickup: 2 x Pat No Humbuckers Switch: 3-way toggle switch Brigde: Tune-O-Matic & Tailpiece Gibson Tuners Weight: 4,28Kg. Come with Gibson Case as you see in photo. This is great guitar we hardly ever see these in the finish. This is one of the early long scale ones. These guitars and basses each featured a longer scale than other Gibsons, innovative active electronics (developed by Moog), and a unique offset body style. The RD Custom used an all maple body. Have the late seventies funky styling and produce killer modern tones, constructed from solid maple. It has tons of sustain and heavenly tone. The Moog electronics work well in this guitar. You can get a phase sound and a compressor.
Introduced in 1977, original RD Series development
involving Gibson designers, luthiers, craftsmen, musicians and the electronic
ingenuity available only from the technicians of Moog, was targeted at meeting
the needs of the more sophisticated rock and country players looking to maximize
their capabilities as musicians. To meet the needs of players looking for
tonalities previously not available commercially. To offer "dynamic touch"
control, never before available in a guitar. To offer "customized" features in
power and frequency capabilities. The first Gibson solid body development effort
to incorporate a 25" scale length with size, shape and density of materials
chosen for their brightness, brilliance, sustain and comfort characteristics.
Although the Custom had active electronics, it did not actually have the same
Moog expansion and compression circuitry of the Artist, but did have the
switchable bright mode.
