Vintage 100% original 1969 Hofner G500/1 Deluxe Super Beatle violin bass guitar. Most notably played by Sir Paul McCartney, this iconic hollowbody bass is instantly recognizable to even those whom are not familiar with basic guitar makes or models. This particular example is in very excellent all original condition and includes the New Hard Case. Some enthusiasts feel that these later production/2nd generation varieties are actually better quality instruments than earlier versions, and there is no question that the G500/1 is a special and unique bass that since being made in the late-1960s- early-1970s has become impossibly rare. This might be due to the fact that the bass cost £526, as pictured. This Hofner G 500/1 violin bass features: Violin shape body design, German spruce top, Figured maple back and sides, Rosewood fingerboard, Double-bound and inlaid body and neck, 512B “Blade” pickups, Gold hardware. The bass plays and sounds incredible. The neck is perfectly straight, which is often not the case, and the low action enables easy playability. The original electronics are in perfect working condition, and all of the switches and potentiometers function without producing scratchy and dirty noises. The circuit has transistor-powered bass boost; (3) controls for adjustment of volume; tone and bass; a pickup selector switch; and a bass boost on-off push switch. Absolutely perfect for recording, while also great for those who want a killer sounding bass for live performances, Hofner basses have become an absolute staple in most studios. This hollowbody bass is extremely light, and weighs a mere 5 lbs. 5 oz.! This bass sure does produce a substantially heavy sound… considering how light it weighs. Other than the typical large weather-checking confined to the top only, due to the thick original finish, the bass is in otherwise excellent condition. The original hard case is also in excellent shape!
